Cancún Things
I'm happiest by the water.
I’ve really been struggling y’all — work, health, family, everything — and even though I booked this trip months ago, knowing I’d need a break six months into the year, I truly had no idea just how NECESSARY this getaway would be for me. Four days wasn’t anywhere near enough time, especially given I had to jump right back into a work trip straight from vacation (no, that wasn’t the original plan, obvi!), but it was better than nothing. Way, way better!
Because I love solo travel so much and never want to gatekeep the places where I stay or the things I do, eat and wear, I’ve put all that together and more. If you want the TL;DR version, you can see my TikTok recap below (I finally folded smh). If you want alllll the details, keep scrolling!

Hotel Things
I have yet to meet an EDITION Hotel that I didn’t love and The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is no exception. It’s only been open for about a year and a half and if you want the cheat code for an impressively unbothered stay: go the weekend after a major holiday. I booked for the post-MDW holiday and not only was my room about $250+ cheaper than their usual rate but they were also nowhere near capacity. That meant incredible service, no families with kids, quiet beach and adults-only pool time, no families with kids, an empty gym, no families with kids, easy dining experience and again, no families with kids! I was in single-close to mid 30s-rich auntie heaven, okay? Not only is this place STUNNING and a quick 30 min drive from the Cancún airport but it also has everything you expect, know and love about an EDITION property. And the spa?! To die for. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 TL;DR stars.

Fashion Things
The other thing I love about a beach getaway is that it’s minimal clothes required. I basically live in tiny bathing suits, slinky dresses and the occasional workout set. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t get a look off but it’s also the perfect time to embody the “she’s wearing less and going out more” mantra. And by going out I really mean going to the beach, dinner, gym and spa.

Bathing suits (L to R)
Bydee Barcelona Top in Thálassa and Bydee Malaga Bottom in Thálassa
Isa Boulder Retta Bikin Top and Isa Boulder Astoria Chain Bottoms
Sommer Swim Bikini is Jaguar print - I no longer see my style on their site (snagged it two years ago!) so I’ve linked to similar available styles.

Dresses (L to R)
An oldie but goodie Rat & Boa Valentina Dress - she’s quite see-through but in all the right places!
ÉTERNE maxi dress - this dress hugs me so well and makes my back look incredibly delicious. Now she is looooong, even for this 5’7” girly wearing 4” heels but I’d take that over these dresses that aren’t made for us “above average height” women. Currently sold out on Net-a-Porter but hopefully they’ll restock soon.
Suncare Things
I know, I know, I know. Tanning is BAD for you but I simply could not go another month with this vitamin-D deficient ass skin! Mama missed her summer color and it’s finally back in full swing. That being said, I take my suncare very seriously — vigorously reapplying my sunscreen every two hours and always looking out for the best water-proof, zero cast formulas. I also love a browning oil (again, I KNOW!) but only buy ones from Black-owned brands because ya know, melanin knows melanin.

Suncare (L to R)
Blue Water Girls Private Island Glow Tan Accelerant Glow Serum - new to the game but excellent. I did notice a bit of transfer onto my lighter colored bathing suit as the serum is brown but it washed right out!
Eadem Mami Wata Ultra-Calming Rescue Mist - I use this everyday, multiple times a day.
111Skin Black Diamond - she’s EXPENSIVE and I do not personally owned any of these products. I booked a 90-min face and body treatment at the EDITION spa where they used the line and my skin surely was thankful!
And with that I say, BOOK THAT TRIP, sis!
xx,
Kayla
